Barrell is an accomplished and fairly famous digger, although he is now retired. His extensive knowledge of the digging business now goes toward helping his granddaughter Roll and MegaMan during their adventures. Barrell raised them both since they were just little.

Mega Man Legends -

After the Caskett family crash lands on Kattelox, Barrell goes with the police to fill out some immigration forms at City Hall. It turns out that the mayor, Amelia, was once a student of his and they know each other well. Barrell spends much of his time on the island with her, discussing the history and many mysteries of Kattelox Island, until the Flutter is repaired well enough to fly about the island.

Mega Man Legends 2 -

Professor Barrell once traveled to Forbidden Island with Werner Von Bluecher, and they were miraculously the only two ever to return and tell about it. After 30 years he accompanies his old partner and friend on a return expedition. As things progress, a more serious side of Barrell comes out, in keeping with his title of "professor".
