Special Feature: The Legends Community

When a Mega Man fan first gets online to look for a good Mega Man site, and types it in on Google, we know that they will be presented with a cornucopia of options to visit. From massive sites like Planet Mega Man and Mega Man Network, to places that focus on a single character shrine, they will likely find just what they are looking for. We Legends fans on the other hand go to Google and type in the name of our beloved series and get... endless game reviews and online stores that sell the games...

There are MM Legends sites out there, if you're willing to spend hours searching for them (which is of course why I made MMLS to hopefully solve that problem). And I am not talking about Mega Man sites with Legends info, I am talking about Mega Man Legends sites. Why can you find Mega Man sites dedicated only to the classic series, or only to the X or Battle Network series, and not Legends?

The direct blame of course would seem to lie within Capcom. Major sites like those mentioned above are always on top of the latest news, bringing in visitors repeatedly and gathering to them communities of fans. In this regard a Legends site has no hope. We have no Mega Man Legends 3 to look forward to. Thus, the series does not grow, thus interest in it fades away, and thus new fans are not made.

On the other hand, people still manage to make sites dedicated to the classic Mega Man series, which too hasn't had a game since even longer than we Legends fans have been waiting. What if Capcom looks at the web and sees this overall lack of enthusiasm toward Legends? From that point of view, why should they make a game for a series which no one seems to care about?

So just what is it that I'm getting at? I start to wonder myself. Bottom line is, so far we have a company that won't make us a new game, so our series is dying, but why should they make a game when there is so little interest in the series, but if they made the game it would raise interest in it, etc... It's a vicious circle. And no matter who is to blame, or who hasn't done what, I want to now take a moment to give thanks to those who have shown that enthusiasm that I speak of which is so lacking.

I don't pretend by this that more Legends activity on the web will bring us MML3, but I do know that with no new games, we have to appreciate the three we do have, and appreciate each other, we the Legends Community. So where is this community? It's rather scattered, spread thin, mostly talking in quiet Legends sections of Mega Man forums and message boards. But here we have the list, the most complete list of Mega Man Legends based web sites (no matter how small, old, or out of date some may be) in which people have actually taken the time to show their love of the series by making an actual site.

CP's Misadventures of Tron Bonne
This little site posseses info on The Misadventures of Tron Bonne, as well as a little collection of MM Legends fan fiction.

Kattelox Network
Various Legends information, and I've been told some big updates are on their way, despite the stagnant look of things.

Legends Corner
At the time of writing this there is very little to visit. It's a new site that has had repeated problems with hosting. Looking forward to watching it grow.

Legends Unlimited
Again, a small and incomplete Legends site, but looking good. Also home to the semi-famous Taco Saga sprite comic.

MegaMan Comics: High Velocity
A site filled with Mega Man Legends sprite comics.

Mega Man Legends Station
You better know this one, if not you need help!

MegaMan Legends Universe
A superb Legends fan site! Plenty of information, pictures, and fun stuff. Without a doubt, second only to MMLS. They also have an excellent...

MegaMan Legends Universe Boards
Normally I wouldn't list a message board as a site unto itself, but this place is great. I happen to be an active member there, as are many of the webmasters of the sites featured here on this page. Legends fans, gather!

The Gesellschaft
A small site with a big love of Servbots, as well as some other weird things...

.Virus
Another small but new and upcoming Legends site with a variety of sections.

These are the sites that make up the Legends Community! Other than Japanese sites, this was the result of all my searching far and wide to bring together this list of links for this article. I can't guarantee that links will always be working every time you visit. Sites crash now and then, etc. But assuming they all stick around, visit them and enjoy them, because they are what we've got.

Thanks to the webmasters of these site! Thanks for taking your time to make a Legends-devoted site. This special feature article is dedicated to you all!
